The Tri-County hayfield project is now taking reservations from all SBFNH
county groups for the 2017 season. From Allan Mistler, Hayfield Manager
Paid up members as of this announcement may reserve 1st cutting (Early Summer) bales at $3.50/bale or 2nd and subsequent cuttings (Late Summer) at $4.00 by mailing, to J. Mistler at 604 Meadow Pond Road, Gilmanton NH 03237, your request and a $50 deposit check, made out to SBFNH. No deposit – No hay! Discounts of $.50/bale are offered to those who actively participate on any of our committees or special events. Contact me regarding inquiries.
Your deposit will be applied to your purchase upon final pick up of your hay in the field. Scheduling will be on a first come – first served basis and you will be notified in advance as to the approximate day and time of pickup as we will make that call when the hay is first cut down. Since weather is a factor in the cutting and curing of hay and can be unpredictable, we will provide further notification as necessary. Please make every effort to pick up your hay when notified as failure to do so will place you at the bottom of the list and possible forfeiture of your deposit. Provide us with your name and telephone number where you can be contacted and the requested quantity of bales from each cutting (1st or 2nd). Though every effort will be made to fill your order in one haying event, we are aware that many folks require multiple trips to transport their complete order so please let us know your transporting capacity such that we may schedule distribution accordingly. Folks have utilized the services of some local young men on previous baling days to help load trucks and trailers. Please contact me for their names and number to arrange dates/times and payment for their services as SBFNH is not a party to this service.
Trailer storage – Hay stored in the trailer should be partially distributed each month, beginning by December 1st, at the rate of 1/6th of that original quantity stored such that it is totally removed by June 1st of the subsequent year. Stored hay will be available for distribution on the 1st and 15th of each month beginning in December. If the number of bales removed by the end of each month fails to meet the 1/6th minimum, there will be an accruing surcharge of 50 cents per bale assessed to the shortfall.
