June 3rd from 9-2 – Loudon, NH
The Loudon Agriculture Commission is hosting a Hands-on Chicken Processing clinic on June 3rd at Song Away Farm in Loudon.
This clinic will walk you step by step through the process of dispatching, plucking and cleaning your own broiler chicken.
Kay and Steve Doyon will be your instructors and Dot Perkins from the UNH Cooperative Extension will be on hand to assist and discuss raising meat chickens.
The cost is $45 for the person doing the processing and $5 for a friend who can watch and take notes and includes the broiler you will get to take home and enjoy. You will need to supply your own knives (4”-6” blades). Chicken shears (optional), ice and a cooler (to bring your broiler home in.) Quart size bags if you want to bring home livers, hearts, etc. Jumbo zip lock bags will be available or you can bring your own.
This is a great way to learn about raising broilers and how to process them. Space is limited so RSVP as soon as possible. Please go to www.loudonag.org to register.
