This will be an interactive workshop beginning with a tree identification walk, allowing participants to learn how to select appropriate trees for cutting mushroom logs. This portion of the workshop will be led by Dode Gladders, Forestry Field Specialist for Sullivan County Extension.
The second portion of the evening will focus on the process of inoculating logs for shiitake production, as well as, handling of the logs in anticipation of harvest. All necessary supplies will be provided and participants will take home the log that they inoculate during the workshop. Jeremy DeLisle, Food and Agriculture Specialist for Merrimack County Extension, will lead this portion of the workshop.
This workshop will be capped at 20 participants, so register early to reserve your spot.
